To provide the candidate with the information and knowledge required to instruct their company’s personnel in the use and wear of specified types of Sabre BA.
Outline Delivery consists of classroom theory and practical exercises, covering: • Roles and responsibilities: candidate, employing company • Sabre BA: pre-use inspection, donning & doffing- technical background and training techniques • Candidate delivery of BA use and wear training On completion of the course, the candidate will: • understand the requirements of the programme and for maintaining instructor competence • The importance of mask fit testing & the regulation HSE (ACoP 282-28) • be able to conduct pre-use inspection and donning of a Sabre BA set • understand why, how and when to use a Sabre BA set • be able to clean and understand storage requirements for a Sabre BA set • understand the record keeping requirements & regulations covering them (CoSHH and PPE directive) • understand the requirements for developing a lesson plan for the use and wear training of a Sabre BA set • deliver Sabre BA set use and wear training • be able to conduct use and wear competence assessments for a Sabre BA set • understand the record keeping requirements relating to competence assessments for use and wear of a Sabre BA set The candidate will be observed throughout by Sabre Safety trainers and will be required to complete and pass a written knowledge assessments. Successful candidates will be issued with a competence certificate after the course; it is the responsibility of the candidate/employing company to ensure competence is maintained throughout the validity period of the certificate. Duration This is to be determined in conjunction with the employing company, taking into account the volume of equipment to be covered, and the experience of the candidates and their compliance with the pre-requisites. Pre-requisites and Dependencies The candidate will have a working knowledge of BA, at least as a user, and a proven aptitude for training. To continue to demonstrate competence, the candidate will be require to utilise the skills obtained during the course regularly and the employing company’s internal training processes must generate appropriate supportive records. Supporting details of the above must be provided at the start of the course. Trainers Sabre Safety Instructors hold a minimum of A1 Workplace Assessors Qualification and have extensive experience in using and maintaining BA, this in addition to many years of training experience. |
