To provide the delegate with the information and knowledge required to instruct their company’s personnel in the pre-use, inspection, donning and doffing of specified types of Sabre Breathing Apparatus.
To conduct a competence assessment programme to confirm the delegate’s ongoing competence and provide support/re-training as required. Outline Phase 1 delivery consists of classroom theory and practical exercises, covering: • Roles and responsibilities: Sabre Safety, delegate, employing company • Sabre BA: pre-use inspection, donning & doffing- technical background and training techniques • Delegate delivery of BA user training On completion of Phase 1, the delegate will: • understand the requirements of the programme and for maintaining instructor competence • be able to conduct pre-use inspection and donning of a Sabre BA set • understand why, how and when to use a Sabre BA set • be able to clean a Sabre BA set and understand why, how and when to clean a set • understand storage requirements for a Sabre BA set • understand the record keeping requirements relating to use of a Sabre BA set • understand the requirements for developing a lesson plan for user training for a Sabre BA set • deliver Sabre BA set user training • be able to conduct user competence assessments for a Sabre BA set • understand the record keeping requirements relating to competence assessments for use of Sabre BA set The delegate will be observed throughout by the Sabre Safety trainers and will be required to complete written knowledge assessments. A competence portfolio will be provided to successful delegates. During Phase 2, Sabre Safety will assess the delegate’s competence through remote review of records and periodic observation of training delivery. The delegate’s portfolio will be updated throughout. The initial competence certificate will be issued for 1 year and will be re-issued annually, providing competence continues to be demonstrated. Duration To be determined in conjunction with the employing company, taking into account the volume of equipment to be covered. Pre-requisites and Dependencies The delegate will have a working knowledge of breathing apparatus, at least as a user, and a proven aptitude for training. To continue to demonstrate competence, the delegate will require to utilise the skills regularly and the employing company’s internal training processes must generate appropriate records. Supporting details of the above must be provided during Phase 1. Trainers Sabre Safety Instructors hold a minimum of A1 Workplace Assessors Qualification and have extensive experience of using and maintaining breathing apparatus, in addition to many years’ training experience. |
