We also hold a number of third party approvals which include being an authorised service and training centre for the Scott Health and Safety range of breathing apparatus. This means that on successful completion of training, candidates receive a certificate fully authorised by the manufacturer.

We work to the highest level of quality standards across all of our business and hold a Group-wide ISO 9001:2008 certificate for our integrated management system (quality, health & safety and environmental). This enables us to use group resources to deal with fluctuating demand and short-notice training requirements.

Trainer Information

Jock: Has been in the business for a long, long time and is our Senior Technical Training Instructor. He delights in sharing his knowledge and experience with everyone and, as yet, there has been no question that he has been unable to answer or find an answer for. Test him to see if we’re right! Jock is a qualified A1 Assessor and in addition to training people here at Sabre Safety he is also a shooting instructor and an ice hockey coach, so training and coaching come naturally to him.

Jock has a huge amount of experience and has filled many roles during his career including; installation hook up electrician, production well testing, wire-line operation, fixed gas detection installation, HVAC and navigation aids, hard piped and flexible hose air breathing cascade systems HP and MP, support for blow out operations, safety advisor and of course Training Instructor. His experience spans more than 30 years during which he has travelled to many countries and continents.

Davie: Is one of our Senior Technicians, combining a field based role along with his Training Instructor role. Davy delivers a lot of our training courses to third party companies and is very encouraging and supportive to all candidates no matter what their experience or skill level. Like all our instructors he is a qualified A1 Assessor and is currently increasing his own knowledge and skills by working towards a SVQ.

Davie has worked for Sabre Safety for 5 years as an H2S Technician and Senior Technician. He has worked offshore mainly in the North Sea, however his experience has been gained on a variety of rigs/platforms and for numerous different clients.

Andy: Like Davie Andy is one of our Senior Technicians. He enjoys passing on knowledge and learning new things which makes him a valuable member of our training team. Andy is a qualified A1 Assessor and V1 Internal Verifier. He plays a key role in developing our own personnel and delivering training to third party candidates.

Andy’s experience extends to working in various locations throughout the world on both offshore and onshore installations, providing H2S safety cover during drilling operations, well testing, coring operations and well workover’s.

Kev: Has worked in the oil & gas industry for more than 16 years and has a wealth of experience. As a member of our Technician team he is a Senior H2S Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring that less experienced Technicians get all the support, training and experience that they need to do the job. Kev is also a qualified A1 Assessor and when he’s not out working on a customer’s site, he can be found delivering training courses for us.

Kev’s years in the business have taken him to a number of different locations both offshore and onshore and for both oil and gas. These have included the North Sea, Norway, Canada, the Netherlands, Libya and Dubai.

Neil: Like Kev, Neil is a Senior H2S Supervisor and is also responsible for ensuring that less experienced Technicians get all the support, training and experience that they need to do the job. He’s always ready to jump into the Training Suite to deliver a course and share his extensive knowledge of H2S, BA and GD. Neil is a qualified A1 Assessor and is currently developing his own skills by working towards becoming a V1 Internal Verifier.

Neil has worked in the industry for more than 10 years (he’s a bit younger than Kev!) in a number of international locations, including the North Sea, Norway, Bulgaria, Canada, Turkey and Hungary - this has been both offshore and onshore and in both oil and gas. His field based experience is vital in communicating understanding in a credible manner to learners.

Bruce: Is one of our Senior Technicians, combining a field based role along with his Training Instructor role. Prior to joining Sabre Safety, Bruce had experience of devising and delivering training programmes to engage young people. This background has provided him with excellent training delivery skills where he fully engages all the candidates on his courses, even those who thought they didn’t want to be engaged!

As with all our Training Instructors, Bruce is a qualified A1 Assessor and is working towards achieving Sabre Safety’s own SQA approved Customised Vocational Qualification ‘H2S Safety Supervisor’. His experience onshore and offshore includes working in locations such as the North Sea, Norway and Tunisia. He has provided H2S Services in a wide variety of environments, including high risk areas.
