This half day course will provide the candidate with additional information and knowledge, along with the appropriate understanding to enable them to identify, assess and manage an H2S hazard, assess the risk and implement the appropriate control measures.
Outline Course topics and activities include: • Full duration breathing apparatus, understanding its full application for use and wear in the worksite. • Practical session with the full duration SCBA. • Understanding alarm procedures and knowing their response. • 1 & 2 man casualty rescue techniques and their correct applications. • Informal case studies on recorded H2S incidents. • Competency based knowledge assessments using approved documentation. Outcome On completion of this course the candidate will be able to identify the correct applications for use of a full duration BA set and demonstrate they can operate the device during an emergency situation. The candidate will be able to identify and act upon a H2S toxic gas alarm in a timely manner utilising the appropriate BA at there work site. They will be able to identify methods for carrying out 1 and 2 man rescue techniques for the emergency evacuation of casualties. They will have the ability to understand the response strategies put in place to deal with H2S emergencies. Delivery Delivery consists of classroom based theory and practical exercises. A knowledge assessment is undertaken based on the course activities, with successful candidates proving their competence within the scope of the subjects covered. Certificates are awarded to those displaying the required level of understanding, and have a validity period of two years. Prerequisites All candidates must have attended the OPITO 1/2 day Basic H2S Training course. Where this course has not been delivered by Sabre Safety instructors, candidates must bring the valid certificate as proof of competency. All candidates are required to bring photographic I.D. Trainers Instructors hold an A1 Workplace Assessors Qualification and all have extensive experience in using and maintaining BA, this in addition to many years of training experience. |
